Sala Absidale of the Aula Magna of Santa Lucia of the University of Bologna
The meeting with the world’s press will as usual be held on the second day of Cersaie, Wednesday 27 September. The International Press Conference will be held in the Sala Absidale of the Aula Magna of Santa Lucia in Bologna and will be open to all accredited journalists at the International Exhibition of Ceramic Tiles and Bathroom Furnishings, organised by Assopiastrelle in cooperation with the Italian Trade Commission ICE and Mapei.
The International Press Conference will be moderated by Assopiastrelle Director General Franco Vantaggi and will feature addresses by Assopiastrelle Chairman Alfonso Panzani, Assopiastrelle Vice Chairman for Promotional Activities and Trade Fairs Enzo Mularoni and ICE Director Ugo Calzoni.
Talks will also be given by the Chairman of Federchimica and Mapei Giorgio Squinzi and the Production Activities Officer of Regione Emilia Romagna Duccio Campagnoli, whose presence underscores the strong support given to the initiative by the Emilia Romagna regional government.
The purpose of this important meeting with the world’s media is to provide an accurate picture of the state of the ceramic sector and the overall scenario facing the sector’s companies.
There will be a special focus on the various initiatives conducted by Assopiastrelle in cooperation with the Ministry of Production Activities and ICE to promote an awareness of the excellence of Italian tiles the world over. This support is critical for improving the level of competitiveness within a scenario characterised by the growing presence and efficiency of foreign competitors.
The event will be concluded by the presentation of two awards: the Ceramic Tiles of Italy Journalism Award, given to the US journalist who has written the best article on ceramic tiles and Cersaie during 2005, and the Assopiastrelle Distributors Award, devoted to ceramic tile importers and distributors who have excelled in their relations with the Italian tile industry. This year the winning distributors selected by the Assopiastrelle jury come from four European countries: France, Germany, Italy and Greece.
